Owner Of Sporthorse Saddlery

Our Team

Store Owner
Nancy opened the store in 2004 and has never looked back! She was officially "bit by the bug" when she was 9 years old and rode consistently until she became too busy with the store. She rode both hunters and dressage and has knowledge of both disciplines. Nancy has two dressage horses, Beau and Russo, who are now fat, happy and retired. They are the official horse cookie testers for the store! When she isn’t at the store, Nancy and her husband can be found watching their son play baseball.

Store Manager
Anna has been at Sporthorse since 2004! She has ridden since she was 12 years old and has some unique equine knowledge from her vast experiences. Her horse Panama Jack "PJ" is always the shiniest horse at the barn due to his mother’s obsession with horse care products. Her other "kids" Bruno and Vinnie are official greeters at the store. You can catch Anna in the jumper ring wearing all of the trendiest fashions found at the store.

Alex graduated from Grand Valley State University where she competed on the GVSU Equestrian Team from 2005-2009. She has a passion for training young horses and has had many under her care over the years. Her current horse Real Talk "Asher" is a Thoroughbred who is a huge goofball. He is in training to be an adult amateur hunter extraordinaire. You can find Alex either at the store or on the mobile all summer. If you can’t find Alex, look for her corgi Radish- Alex won’t be far away!

Graduated from Michigan State University where she also competed on the MSU Dressage Team from 2008-2012. Carrie is an active member of the dressage community and enjoys taking lessons. When Carrie isn’t at the store, she is teaching science at Milford High School. Her dog, Dexter, can sometimes be found at the store on the weekend. You can also catch Carrie working on the dressage mobile.

Jill has been a fixture on the hunter/jumper circuit for many years. Jill seems to know everyone! Her Holsteiner Rhodan is an ex dressage horse who is now enjoying life as an adult amateur hunter. Jill has dreams of moving to Aiken, SC and having her own barn, but so far we have convinced her to stay here! Jill can be found at the store and occasionally on the mobiles in the summer.

Lauren started at Sporthorse in 2016. She competes in dressage on her Paint Horse, Cons Tru Elegance "Tango". Tango is a Paint in disguise as he does not have the flashy spots that typically come with the breed. When they aren’t dancing around a dressage arena, Lauren and Tango enjoy leisurely trail rides through Kensington Park. Tango really enjoys the river! Lauren can be found in the store as well as on the mobiles in the summer.

Linda has been with us from just about the very beginning. Those of you at the Waterloo dressage shows remember her as a fixture on the mobile. Linda now spends most of her time riding her Hanoverian “Wendal” in dressage and spending time with her two granddaughters. Even though she’s busy, she still joins the team here at Sporthorse every once in awhile. We’re happy that she chooses to spend some of her spare time with us on occasion!

Michele has been involved in horses for many years. She enjoys teaching students how to ride but she is also a cheerleader for her daughter who rides locally on the A/AA hunter circuit. Michele owns two warmbloods, All About Me, "Aski" and About Last Night, "Manny". She also has the cutest small pony named Chandler who hangs out at her farm. Many Michigan horse show locals know Michele as the lady with the giant dogs because she can usually be found with a Great Dane at her side.

Rachel graduated from Michigan State University where she competed on the MSU Dressage Team from 2011-2015. Her mare Vegas Blue "Vega", is a Friesian/Thoroughbred cross, who can be found in the dressage ring. Rachel and Vega will be the ones blinding you with bling as they prance around! Catch Rachel in the store or the dressage mobile during the summer.

Ryan has been with the team at Sporthorse since 2011. Ryan trains hunters and jumpers with his mother Karen Flynn, out of Fox River Farm. He’s had several off-the-track Thoroughbreds and has had much success training them for their new careers. Ryan is the resident men’s apparel expert at the store and knows of any and all options available for gentleman equestrians. He also is our photography director and many of the beautiful photos you see on our social media and website are his creations.

Terri is our resident "crazy goat lady". She loves her three pet goats that live at her farm, Turning Point, in South Lyon. Turning Point is also home to the beautiful Hanoverians that Terri breeds. Terri has been involved with horses her entire life and is a wealth of knowledge for many disciplines. She also has taken a personal interest in horse rescue and has acquired a few of her own projects. Terri can be found at the store on Thursdays and Sundays or cheering on her horses at Waterloo Dressage.
